What Charlotte actually runs on
Charlotte is the second-largest banking centre in the United States, with Bank of America and Truist headquartered uptown and Wells Fargo running its East Coast headquarters here. Duke Energy and Nucor are also based in the city, and Charlotte Douglas is American Airlines' second-largest hub. Underneath that corporate base sits a very large population of small firms and sole traders serving it.

Listing business property in Mecklenburg County
Mecklenburg lists business personal property through its Office of Tax Administration, which merged the former Assessor's and Tax Collector's offices into one department. Online listing runs through the county's portal, which also takes extension requests. The county also runs periodic business personal property audits through a contractor, typically on a multi-year cycle.
Charlotte carries filings most of the surrounding counties never touch. Mecklenburg levies a 1% prepared food and beverage tax, a room occupancy tax and a short-term vehicle rental tax, each due monthly to the county on the 20th and entirely separate from the state sales tax return. North Carolina has authorised a prepared-meals tax in only about fourteen jurisdictions statewide.
North Carolina requires an annual business personal property listing with the county, generally during January. Counties set their own dates and extension rules each season, so confirm the current year with your county before you file.
How the monthly work runs
Every plan is the same monthly service. We connect to your bank and card accounts, categorize what moved, reconcile the accounts, and send a profit and loss statement and a balance sheet for the month and the year to date. What changes between plans is volume — how many accounts you run and how much passes through them — not what gets done.
